Nichelle's Story

When I was 30 years old (1999), I was in great physical shape. I worked as a personal trainer and thrived as a dance instructor, dance team performer, and professional choreographer. Life was full of energy and possibilities, and I envisioned an adventurous future.

However, as the following 20 years unfolded, raising kids, working, and juggling a busy schedule became routine. The demands of my life led me to start a graphic design and printing business, which I love as it fulfills my creative fire; however, it's a career that demands a substantial amount of computer time. While I continued to dance, my stress levels heightened, and my activity level became moderate.

It took two decades of weight gain to realize I didn't look or feel how I wanted to. I longed for the adventurous life I had once envisioned, but it seemed out of reach.

Why? I wondered. Why not live the life I imagined when I was younger?

As I approached my 50th birthday (2019), I decided to make a change. I wanted to look and feel better. I was determined to reclaim my health and vitality.

I began researching and educating myself on what it would take to achieve my goals. Armed with new knowledge and fierce determination, I embarked on a journey of transformation. I went from 160 to 130 pounds through hard work and dedication, shedding over 10% of my body fat. I got stronger, felt better, and discovered a newfound freedom.

This journey wasn't just about losing weight; it was about redefining my capabilities. I realized that I had the power to change my life, prioritize myself, and achieve the adventurous, fulfilling life I had always dreamed of. Reflecting back, I realized my beliefs and habits were holding me back. It isn't easy to put yourself first when you have learned to believe you shouldn't.

Now, I love how I look and feel and embrace the possibilities of what I can do. I prove it to myself every day. I like the way my jeans fit. I love how strong I am. Mountain biking is my passion. I ride, train, and race. I am strong and becoming more fit as I dedicate my life to the discipline of getting after it; pushing hard and discovering how physically and mentally tough I can be. Being fit has opened up a whole new world of adventure for me—this is freedom.

Reflecting on my journey, I have a profound sense of gratitude and purpose. Becoming a Fitness, Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach has been a career choice and calling deeply rooted in my desire to help others lead healthier, happier lives. My path has been shaped by my continued studies, certifications, and, most importantly, the personal connections I've made. I am grateful for the opportunity to help others in this beautiful and powerful way.
